The Kalitatea Fundazioa

The MISSION of Kalitatea is to encourage, promote and develop quality agri-fish and food products and to provide the consumers with a guarantee of their source, safety and quality.

This way, it is intended to improve the competitiveness of these products and their profitability for the producer and the companies, thus contributing to their increase in value, their notoriety and to the maintenance and protection of the natural and cultural patrimony they provide to the sector.

Fundación Kalitatea has a Board, as a highest ranking governmental and representative body. The Board is made up of members of the productive sectors included in the quality identifications and members of the Department of Agriculture, fishing and Food of the Basque Government.

As delegate organisations, Kalitatea has a Permanent Committee, various Professional Committees and a Certification Monitoring Committee, as well as other internal coordination systems or committees.

It is worth pointing out the Professional Committees and the Certification Monitoring Committee.

The Professional Committees as they are the liaising organisations between Fundación and the various sectors involved, and they have the function of participating in the development of the products on the market, generating actions aimed at their promotion and improvement. Manufacturers, transformers and/or marketers of the products included in the identifications take part in these Committees.

The Certification Monitoring Committee as it is the organisation which performs the monitoring and verification of the control and certification procedures which are carried out by Fundación, with the aim of guaranteeing impartiality of the whole process. This Committee is made up of representatives of the operators involved in the certifying process..
